About Kaylene
My teaching career began over 37 years ago when I started teaching the flute to some local beginners. During that time I have taught in many schools (primary and secondary), at The University of Melbourne and privately in my home studio. My students have ranged in age from 2 -77 years and have varied in level from complete beginners to Bachelor of Music students. I have successfully prepared many students for AMEB exams (flute and Theory of Music), VCE solo and group performance assessments and have taught group instrumental programs and conducted flute ensembles. More recently I have gained full accreditation to teach the Suzuki Method, so that I am able to teach very young children.
I have enjoyed a very diverse and fulfilling performing career, including solo, chamber music and orchestral performances. Alongside classical repertoire, I have performed other styles of music in collaborative performances with actors, dancers and other performing artists.
